FDA Discovers “Unsanitary Conditions” at Egg Recall Farms in Iowa

The egg recall farms are under intense scrutiny of the FDA.  The egg recall farms were discovered to have “unsanitary conditions” after a visit from the regulatory body.  The results of the investigation are disturbing.  At the Wright County Egg farm in Galt, Iowa, several nasty things were discovered.
First, there were maggots. I don’t know about you, but that makes my stomach churn.  Second, there were rodents and rodent feces present in the henhouses. That’s enough to make me eat eggbeaters for the rest of my life right there!

Third, there were flies “too numerous to count” and once again the maggots were “too numerous to count” as well.
Granted Wright County Egg wasn’t in the business of selling to the general public, but still there were many food safety violations made by the farm. It’s gross.

Over half a billion eggs have been recalled.  Consumers are advised to select pasteurized eggs to avoid salmonella contamination.  In addition, cooking eggs thoroughly SHOULD kill off the salmonella bacteria…but why take the chances?

Girl Throws Puppy into River Video Angers Animal Adorers

A girl throws puppy into river video is going viral today, and it’s angering animal lovers. I can’t say that I blame them.  After all, seeing a puppy thrown into a river with no defenses is BEYOND disturbing.

Last week, the viral video was of a woman throwing a cat in a garbage bin and walking away.  She did this thinking that no one would see her, but she was caught on video surveillance.
However, this more sinister video is of a girl taking a bucket full of black puppies and one by one throwing them into the river. No emotion is shown.

Some are calling for the arrest of the girl, but there is no information on where the video was taped and who posted the video.  Animals are innocent, and I can’t help but feel sorry for them when they are preyed upon like this.

Here is a link to the girl throws puppy into river video.  What are your thoughts…should she be punished for this action?

Signs of Life Return to 911 Ground Zero

Signs of life are returning to the site of the 9/11 attacks, as trees were planted today in what is morphing into a wonderful memorial to those who lost their lives at the terrorist attack.  The memorial park was designed by Israeli-American architect Michael Arad.  The trees planted today at Ground Zero are white swamp oak trees, which are 25 feet tall right now, but will grow to an estimated 80 feet tall.

Those trees will be able to hold up to the harsh New York winters, and will be irrigated by a complex underground system. There’s still a lot of work to be done at ground zero, but it’s a start to a beautiful memorial.

The controversy lies with Park51, a mosque some 300 yards from Ground Zero.  The 13 story Islamic community center has created an uproar by those who think that it is insensitive to build an Islamic center so close to ground zero.
