Dawn Brancheau is the Sea World trainer that was killed by an orca whale on Wednesday. While there is controversy over whether or not the death was caused by an accident or an act of aggression, the fact remains that Dawn Brancheau is now dead.
Preliminary autopsy results have been released in connection with the whale trainer’s death. The results indicate that Brancheau died from multiple traumatic injuries sustained when the killer whale pulled her into the water.  Co-workers tried to free her from the grasps of the whale, but were not able to.
The same whale responsible for Dawn Brancheau’s fatal injuries was involved in fatal human accidents prior to yesterday’s unfortunate attack.
Sea World officials had to lure the orca into its own tank, and then place him on a platform in order to pry the dead trainer from his jaws. Despite the gruesome nature of the attack, Sea World doesn’t plan on isolating the particular whale from the trainers, although they claim changes will be implemented to protect the trainers. There’s no word on what types of changes that will be.
